Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting (EoGM) - Sunday 23rd Nov 08

The Management Committee hereby gives notice of an EoGM for the adoption of the new proposed constitution on Sunday 23rd November 2008. The meeting will commence after Maghrib Namaaz at 5:15pm.

To ensure a timely and organised completion of the EoGM a systematic approach has been adopted for the EoGM. The MC advises all members that:

• All fully paid members shall be eligible to deliberate and vote at the EoGM.
• Any member who wishes to contest a clause or clause(s) in the new proposed constitution is required to submit, in writing to the Honorary Secretary, no later than seven days before the EoGM, i.e. by Sunday 16th November, the following:

a) The clause reference and their objection to the clause
b) A counter proposal

• All members have had the opportunity to bring suggestions and ideas to the notice of the Constitution Review Committee (CRC) since April 2008. These have been discussed and included where appropriate and a consistent and legally checked document has been prepared. Therefore new ideas and new clauses shall be very difficult to include and shall not be considered, in any case, until the present content of the new proposed constitution has been addressed.

NEWS OF DEATH & FUNERAL - Marhum Akberali Moledina

Inna lil-lahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon

We are very saddened to report the sad demise of Marhum Akberali Moledina who passed away overnight, 13th Oct 2008. May Allah (SWT) grant the family patience in this sad time and all momineen to pray for the departed soul.

Funeral: MONDAY 13th October 2008:
12:58pm - Namaaz-e-Zohr followed by Quran recitation.
3:00pm - Namaaz-e-Janaza at Masjid Al-Husayn
4:00pm - Burial at Saffron Hill Cemetry (Stonesby Avenue, Leicester LE2 6TY)
5:00pm - Return to Masjid Al-Husayn, Leicester. Khari mani.

Followers of Syed Khoei (RA) – Wed 1st October is the day of Eid Ul Fitr 1429


The Hilal Advisory Team has received credible reports of sighting and hence Wednesday 1st October 2008 is the day of Eid Ul Fitr for the followers of Syed Khoei (RA).


Muqalideen of Syed Seestani - Thursday 2nd October is the day of Eid Ul Fitr 1429 for Europe


The Hilal Advisory Team has been in touch with the office of His Eminence Ayatullah Seestani as well as leading International Astronomers over the past few weeks. It has reached its conclusion that Thursday 2nd October is the day of Eid Ul Fitr 1429 for the whole of Europe.

Ullema’s Opinion on Sighting Hilal of Shawwal 1429 A.H.

By His Name The Most High All praise is due to Allah Lord of the worlds and peace and blessings be upon Mohammad and his pure and chaste household.


A number of Ullema in the United Kingdom gathered to discuss the Hilal of Shawwal 1429 A.H. Their conclusion is as follows:

Based on opinions of Grand Maraji’ stipulating Unity of HorizonsThe sighting of the moon crescent and related information from nearby regions was researched. There is no evidence, according to Shari’a, of any sighting on Tuesday evening 30 September 2008 in the UK and/or corresponding horizons. Therefore Wednesday will be the last day of Ramadhan and Thursday 2 October will be the 1st day of Shawwal 1429A.H.


Opinions of Grand Maraji’ NOT stipulating Unity of HorizonsIf the followers have proof of sighting the moon crescent in regions sharing the night [with their region] then they can apply this ruling to determine Eid [before Thursday 2 October 2008]


On this blessed occasion of Eid Al-Fitr , we convey our congratulations and Tabreekat to all Muslims, asking Allah (swt) that they witness this Eid, again, with blessings and benevolence for He is the grantor of success.
