Shia Muslim representatives needed for interfaith activities

Asalaamun alaykum

Muslim representatives are required for the following activities in Brent, London.
Please volunteer yourself to partake in these opportunities to raise awareness & understanding of our faith:

School religious education week. To give a talk on Introduction to Islam or a talk on 'Caring for our world' (which can be given by a member from any faith), at a school in Brent, London (Kensal Green), during the week 30th March-3rd April, from 1:30pm onwards / or any time on Thursday when the visit can be any time in the day. Please indicate a day/s/times you can attend.

Brent Multi-faith forum working with Brent Police to improve relations. To jointly hold a ‘Faith market stall’on Islam, with particular emphasis on raising awareness of Shia Islam. To be held at Wembley Police Station on Thursday 18th June 2009, 8am – 3pm. Please indicate level of involvement/ contribution you can give/ times you can attend, as a programmed timetable of events has also been requested . Here are some suggestions of ways you can contribute

Suggestions for Faith Stall activities:
· Calligraphy – opportunity to have a go.
· Storytelling – photocopied sheets for people to take away.
· Faith attire e.g.: hats, prayer shawls, robes, mats etc
· Faith Scriptures e.g.: books, scrolls, prayer books
· Decorative objects e.g. wall hangings, prayer mats etc
· Information sheets, architectural line drawings of faith buildings and interiors.
· Images of Holy Cities
· Everyday ritual objects used in the home and in faith buildings e.g.: incense burners, shrines etc
· Information sheets
· Faith time-lines
